Baby Cashmere Yarn by Exclusive Italian Mill BABY CASHMERE is a rare luxury Italian lace weight yarn made from 100% baby cashmere, with approximately 1300 meters per 100 g. This exceptionally fine yarn is feather-light, incredibly soft, warm, and elegant — a true luxury base for refined knitwear, delicate accessories, and custom multi-strand projects.

This yarn is not meant to be treated like regular hand-knitting yarn in one strand. With its extra-fine 1300m/100g structure, it works best in multiple strands, for machine knitting, weaving, or as a luxury companion yarn blended with silk, merino, mohair, alpaca, linen, or other fine fibers. The result is a soft, airy, cocoon-like fabric with exceptional warmth and understated luxury.

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special
Baby cashmere is one of the most precious fibers in luxury knitwear, valued for its extraordinary softness, lightness, and gentle warmth. This yarn offers that rare softness in an extra-fine lace construction that gives makers full control over the final fabric.

Because it has very high meterage per 100 g, this yarn is especially valuable for multi-strand knitting and blending. You can adjust the thickness, softness, warmth, and drape by choosing how many strands to use or by combining it with other yarns.

It is an exceptional choice for makers who want to create truly refined knitwear: soft shawls, lightweight sweaters, baby garments, luxury layering pieces, and heirloom accessories with a quiet, expensive feel.

✧ Fiber Profile
• 100% Baby Cashmere
• Exceptional softness and gentle warmth
• Feather-light insulation without heaviness
• Refined luxury hand feel
• Beautiful bloom after washing
• Comfortable for delicate, skin-close pieces

➤ IMPORTANT — Yarn Usage
This is an extra-fine lace yarn at approximately 1300 m per 100 g, so I do not recommend it for comfortable single-strand hand knitting.

Best used:
• In multiple strands
• For machine knitting
• For weaving
• As a luxury companion yarn
• Blended with silk, mohair, merino, alpaca, linen, or other fine fibers

For hand knitting, I recommend starting with several strands together depending on the fabric you want. More strands will create a warmer, fuller, more wearable fabric while still keeping the softness and lightness of baby cashmere.

➤ What This Yarn Does in Your Project
• Adds exceptional softness and warmth
• Creates feather-light luxury fabric
• Produces soft bloom after washing
• Elevates other yarns as a companion thread
• Allows custom control over thickness and drape

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage
• Multi-strand sweaters and cardigans
• Luxury shawls and wraps
• Scarves and cowls
• Baby garments and delicate accessories
• Machine knitting

• Carry-along luxury blending projects

➤ Approximate Yarn Usage
• Companion yarn: depends on main yarn and project
• Shawl or wrap: approx. 100–200 g
• Lightweight sweater: approx. 250–400 g depending on strand count
• Cardigan: approx. 350–550 g depending on strand count
• Scarf or cowl: approx. 80–150 g
• Baby garments: approx. 50–120 g

➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT
• Silk — adds drape, refinement, and elegance
• Mohair on silk — adds halo and atmospheric softness
• Fine merino — adds structure and elasticity
• Alpaca or baby alpaca — adds warmth and softness
• Linen — adds structure and stability to very soft fabrics
• Other cashmere yarns — creates deeper cocoon-like luxury

✦ Recommended Needles / Hooks
• Needle and hook size depend on strand count
• Best used held in multiple strands or with another yarn
• Swatch with the exact number of strands planned for the project

⫯ Weaving Suitability
• Excellent as a luxury weft yarn
• Suitable for soft, lightweight woven scarves and wraps
• For warp, use only with proper reinforcement or multi-strand support
• Beautiful for refined textiles where softness and elegance are the priority

⟳ Care Instructions
• Hand wash cold with gentle cashmere detergent
• Do not wring or twist
• Lay flat to dry and reshape while damp
• Store folded rather than hanging
• Wash swatch before final sizing calculations

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

We ship worldwide with tracking provided. As customs policies and tariffs can change frequently, any duties, taxes, or import fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
