ITACA by FILDI Spa, Italy is a refined bourette silk yarn created from 100% Silk Bourette. With approximately 970 meters / 1061 yards per 100 g, this is a true fine lace-weight silk with a distinctive dry, matte hand and the softly irregular texture that makes bourette silk so special. Unlike smooth, glossy filament silk, bourette silk has a more organic, understated look with subtle nubs and slubs that give finished fabric natural character and quiet elegance.

This is the kind of silk that feels luxurious without looking overly polished. It is lightweight, breathable, and beautifully textural, making it especially appealing for makers who love natural fibers with personality. While it feels rustic on the cone, it softens beautifully with washing and blocking, becoming more fluid, more comfortable, and even more beautiful in the finished fabric.

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special
ITACA offers a very different silk experience from smooth, shiny silk yarns. It has the luxury of silk, but with more texture, more depth, and a more natural look. That makes it especially appealing for makers who want a refined yarn with visible character rather than a polished, slippery finish.

Because bourette silk is both breathable and temperature-balancing, it works beautifully across seasons. It feels cool and airy in warm weather, yet still has enough substance to be comfortable in layered garments and accessories. The fine meterage also makes it highly versatile for makers who enjoy building fabric through strand count, pairing, or textile experimentation.

➤ Important Format Note
Cones are not included in the yarn price. The yarn itself is priced separately, and cone winding can be purchased separately if desired. This keeps pricing transparent and allows you to pay only for the format you actually want.

➤ IMPORTANT — Yarn Usage
• Single-strand hand knitting: generally too fine for most practical standalone hand knitting
• Best for hand knitting in 2 or more strands for a more usable fabric
• Excellent as a carry-along yarn for adding natural silk texture
• Beautiful for airy tops, scarves, shawls, wraps, and openwork designs
• Especially suitable for weaving as a textured weft yarn

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage
Actual usage depends on strand count, stitch pattern, and desired fabric.

• Scarf: approx. 75–150 g
• Shawl or wrap: approx. 100–250 g
• Summer top or shell: approx. 200–300 g
• Lightweight sweater (S–M): approx. 250–400 g
• Sweater (L–XL): approx. 350–500 g
• Lightweight dress or long cardigan: approx. 450–650 g

➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT
ITACA is beautiful on its own in multiple strands, but it also works wonderfully as a carry-along yarn to add a unique, rustic silk texture to other fibers.

Fine Merino
Adds softness, elasticity, and more everyday practicality while preserving elegance.

Alpaca
Creates a softer, warmer, more cocooning fabric with beautiful depth.

Cashmere
Adds extra softness and luxury while keeping the fabric refined and natural-looking.

Cotton or Linen
Enhances the breathable, textural quality for warm-weather garments and accessories.

These pairings make ITACA especially appealing to makers who enjoy building fabrics with texture, softness, and natural luxury.
