The Story Behind iDOKNiT®
A Yarn Shop Created by a Knitter, for Knitters
My name is Tatyana — I’m an artist, a knitter, and someone deeply passionate about beautiful, high-quality yarn. iDOKNiT® is my small business, but truly, it’s also my heart. Every yarn you see here has been hand-selected by me. I work directly with trusted yarn manufacturers and dealers in Italy, Latvia, and beyond, so what you’ll find in my shop is often rare, limited, and not available in big-box craft stores.
Some of the yarns I carry were originally produced for European fashion houses such as Chanel, Gucci, and Dolce & Gabbana. Many of the yarns in my boutique are rare treasures that are difficult to find elsewhere. I offer them in a variety of formats—balls, cones, and skeins—whichever suits your project best.
You’ll also find a small selection of knitwear—original designs and custom pieces I create myself. One of my most-loved designs is the Doctor Who vest, which I recreated from vintage photos. Every stitch I knit is intentional. I believe handmade things carry a warm, thoughtful energy that can be felt when worn or gifted.
Before launching iDOKNiT®, I spent decades knitting for others and searching for the best yarns. I was taught to knit by my grandmother as a little girl, and that early joy never left me.
My passion for textiles and yarns goes beyond knitting. I was formally educated in textiles and design, which gave me a deep understanding of fibers, yarn manufacturing, spinning methods, fabric construction, and how materials perform in finished garments. Combined with decades of hands-on knitting experience, that knowledge helps me carefully select every yarn I bring to iDOKNiT®.
When I couldn’t find the quality I was looking for locally, I began sourcing it myself—and eventually built this store for makers who care deeply about materials, just like I do.
Every order is packed by hand—by me—with care, a handwritten note, and often a small gift. And I’m never truly doing this alone. My wonderful husband helps behind the scenes with everything from post office runs and warehouse organizing to lifting boxes and offering daily support. His quiet dedication makes it possible for me to focus on what I love most: discovering beautiful yarns and sharing them with you.
Take your time, explore — I’m here if you need anything.
Warmly,
Tatyana

Frequently Asked Questions:
Do you only sell yarn wound on cones?
No. Most coned yarn is wound into balls by default unless otherwise noted in the listing. Many knitters prefer balls because they are ready to use and can even be knitted from both ends at the same time.
What does "Balls or Cones" mean?
If a listing says "Balls or Cones," yarn is wound into balls by default. Cones are optional and must be purchased separately.
What does "Cones Only" mean?
The yarn is already on cones and cones are included. No additional cone purchase is required.
How long does it take to ship my order?
Orders are typically prepared within 3–5 business days before shipment. Many orders ship sooner.
Why does order preparation take several days?
Many orders require weighing, custom winding, combining quantities, quality checks, and personalized preparation.
Can you divide my yarn between multiple balls or cones?
Yes. Leave instructions at checkout or contact me before your order ships.
Can you wind yarn into multiple strands?
No, we do not combine multiple strands or create plied yarn. Some very fine yarns may be available wound in two strands for convenience. If this option is available, it will be clearly stated in the listing and is already included. If it is not mentioned in the listing, the yarn will be wound as a single strand.
When is my card charged?
Cards are charged when the order is prepared for shipment. Final charges may be adjusted based on exact yarn weight.
Do you offer local pickup?
Yes. Local pickup is available in Folsom, California by appointment only.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. International customers are responsible for customs duties, VAT, taxes, fees, and claiming their shipments.
What happens if I don't claim my package?
Unclaimed or carrier-returned packages may be issued as store credit minus shipping and carrier fees.
Can I return yarn?
Returns may be accepted within 14 days of receipt and require approval. Please review the Return Policy for details.
