A rustic silk with organic charm 🌿 – 100% Bourette Silk spun in Italy by Filati Buratti. Fingering weight with subtle texture, matte finish, and lightweight drape – perfect for breathable warm-weather garments and refined minimalist designs.

🧶 Product Specifications:
• Manufacturer: Filati Buratti, Italy
• Article: 100% SETA BOURETTE
• Fiber Content: 100% Bourette Silk
• Yarn Weight: Fingering
• Yarn Count: 4000
• Yardage: 400 meters / 100g (437 yards / 3.52 oz)

This yarn is made from shorter silk fibers (bourette), giving it a naturally nubby texture and dry handfeel. With a soft slub and relaxed flow, it adds organic character to both modern and rustic knitwear. A beautiful option for summer tops, textural scarves, and light layering pieces.

✨ Texture & Feel:
• Naturally matte, dry touch with a nubby surface
• Airy and breathable with rustic structure
• Softens beautifully after gentle washing
• Holds structure for clean silhouettes or drapes naturally with weight

🧶 Recommended Uses:
• Summer tops and layering tanks
• Lightweight cardigans and scarves
• Relaxed-fit pullovers with texture
• Weaving projects with an earthy finish
• Minimalist lace or drop-stitch designs

🧷 Recommended Needles/Hooks:
• Best used held single or double, depending on desired structure
• Knitting: 2.5mm–3.5mm (US 1.5–4)
• Crochet: 2.75mm–3.5mm
Swatching is highly recommended to explore stitch definition and drape.

🧵 Weaving Suitability:
• Excellent for weft in scarves, wraps, or textured cloth
• Can be used as warp with proper tension and handling
• Suitable for rustic home décor or minimalist fabric designs

🔍 Gauge & Behavior Notes:
• Slightly slubby yarn creates organic texture in simple stitches
• Softens and opens with blocking
• May have some variation in thickness – test in swatch before beginning project
• Lovely stitch definition in openwork, mesh, or lace patterns

🧶 Working with Multiple Strands:
• Single strand = delicate and breathable
• Double strand = light sport-weight for structured tops
• Triple strand = soft DK fabric with more body
• Pairs beautifully with smooth yarns for texture contrast

📘 Project Ideas:
• Knit a minimalist summer tee using 300g single strand
• Crochet a lightweight market shawl with 150g
• Weave a slub-texture scarf or wrap with 200g
• Create a colorblock oversized top with mixed strands

🧪 Blending Possibilities:
• Combine with silk for sheen and strength
• Hold with linen or cotton for crisp texture
• Add a fine mohair lace for a gentle halo
• Excellent pairing with soft wools for fall layering pieces

💡 Helpful Notes:
• Bourette silk has a slightly irregular structure that adds character to finished pieces
• Not glossy like mulberry silk – this is matte and textural
• Natural specks and slubs are part of the yarn's unique beauty
• Great for garments that need breathability and gentle drape

📏 Recommended Yarn Usage:
These are approximate values for knitting with one strand:
• Short-sleeve top: 250–350g (1000–1400 meters / 1093–1531 yards)
• Long-sleeve pullover: 400–500g (1600–2000 meters / 1749–2187 yards)
• Shawl or scarf: 100–200g (400–800 meters / 437–875 yards)

📌 Care Instructions:
• Hand wash gently in cold water with mild detergent
• Do not wring or twist
• Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEACE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

We ship worldwide with tracking provided. As customs policies and tariffs can change frequently, any duties, taxes, or import fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
