ALBA is a beautifully balanced Italian merino yarn manufactured by Botto Giuseppe in Italy, created from 100% superfine merino and prepared in a practical 7-thread format for immediate use. This construction transforms an ultra-fine industrial base yarn into a soft, versatile knitting yarn with a refined hand, beautiful stitch definition, and excellent everyday wearability.

Because ALBA is wound in 7 threads, it offers the elegance and quality of fine Italian mill yarn in a thickness that is much more accessible for knitters and crocheters. The result is a yarn that feels soft, smooth, breathable, and comfortable directly on the skin, making it a wonderful choice for garments, accessories, and classic wardrobe pieces.

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special
ALBA offers the beauty of Italian industrial merino in a ready-to-use multi-thread format. Instead of requiring the knitter to calculate and hold multiple strands manually, the yarn is already prepared in 7 threads, creating a practical thickness with a polished and consistent result.

This makes ALBA especially attractive for makers who want softness, stitch clarity, and flexibility, but without the extra work of building strand count themselves. It is elegant, comfortable, and highly versatile — a true everyday luxury merino.

⌁ Texture & Feel
• Soft and smooth against the skin
• Light yet substantial fabric feel
• Excellent stitch definition
• Breathable and comfortable for garments
• Refined, even texture from the multi-thread preparation
• Softens beautifully after washing and blocking

✧ Fiber Profile — Superfine Merino
Superfine merino is valued for its exceptional softness, flexibility, and comfort. Compared to more rustic wool yarns, it creates a smoother and more refined fabric, making it especially suitable for garments worn directly on the skin.

Why knitters love superfine merino:
• Soft and comfortable to wear
• Excellent elasticity and recovery
• Balanced warmth without heaviness
• Beautiful stitch definition
• Suitable for garments, accessories, and layering pieces

Because ALBA is made from 100% superfine merino, it combines softness and everyday practicality in a way that feels both luxurious and highly wearable.

➤ Yarn Usage
• Ready to use in its 7-thread format
• Suitable for knitting and crochet
• Ideal for sweaters, cardigans, accessories, and refined everyday pieces
• A wonderful choice for projects where softness and stitch definition matter

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage
• Hats and accessories: approx. 100–150 g
• Scarves and shawls: approx. 150–250 g
• Lightweight sweaters: approx. 300–450 g
• Cardigans: approx. 350–500 g
• Children’s garments: approx. 150–300 g

➤ Gauge Examples (Approximate)
Actual gauge depends on needle size, crochet hook, and personal tension.

• Approx. 22–24 stitches / 10 cm with 3.5–4 mm needles for a balanced fabric
• Approx. 20–22 stitches / 10 cm with 4–4.5 mm needles for a slightly more relaxed fabric

Always knit and wash a swatch before starting your final project.

✦ Best Uses
ALBA is especially beautiful for:
• Sweaters and pullovers
• Cardigans
• Hats, scarves, and cowls
• Baby and children’s garments
• Soft everyday knitwear
• Elegant basics with clean stitch definition

➤ Recommended Needles / Hooks
• Knitting needles: approx. 3.5–4.5 mm
• Crochet hooks: select based on the desired fabric density
• Swatching is always recommended to achieve the exact result you want

➤ Why 7 Threads Matter
The original yarn base is extremely fine at 1500 m per 100 g, but when wound in 7 threads, it becomes a much more practical thickness for hand knitting and crochet. This gives you the elegance of a luxury mill yarn with the convenience of a ready-to-work format.

In other words, ALBA offers:
• Consistent strand balance
• Less guesswork for the maker
• Better ease of use
• A smoother and more professional finished fabric

⟳ Care Instructions
• Hand wash cold or wash gently according to your own wool-care preference
• Use a mild wool detergent
• Do not wring or twist
• Lay flat to dry and reshape while damp
• Always wash your swatch before final sizing calculations

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
