BOUCLE FLAME is one of the most unusual silk yarns I have worked with in a long time. At first glance, it looks like a fashion bouclé yarn designed primarily for texture, but once knitted and washed, it reveals a completely different personality. The finished fabric becomes softer, more fluid, and surprisingly elegant while maintaining all the beautiful character of the bouclé and flammé texture.

This rare 100% silk yarn creates fabric that feels more like a luxury designer textile than traditional knitwear. Even simple stockinette becomes visually interesting, and the texture does most of the design work for you. If you enjoy yarns that create garments people notice and ask about, BOUCLE FLAME is a true Rare Find.

⋔ Swatch Notes

I knitted my sample on US 8 (5 mm) needles and was genuinely surprised by the result. Looking at the cone, I expected a heavily textured fabric, but what impressed me most was the drape. After washing, the sample became noticeably softer, silkier, and much more fluid while keeping all the character of the yarn.

What surprised me even more was how well the yarn worked in open fabric structures. Despite the bouclé texture, the knitted fabric remained lightweight and airy rather than bulky. The fabric moves beautifully and has a very modern, fashion-forward appearance.

One thing worth mentioning is that this yarn does not feel like a typical shiny silk. The appearance is more refined and understated. It has a quiet elegance that reminds me much more of luxury designer fabrics than traditional silk knitting yarns.

⌁ Texture & Feel
• Softens significantly after washing
• Beautiful drape and movement
• Rich bouclé texture
• Organic flammé character
• Minimal shine
• Lightweight but substantial
• Comfortable against the skin
• Modern designer appearance

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special

What makes BOUCLE FLAME unusual is not simply that it is silk. The real magic is the combination of pure silk with bouclé and flammé texture.

The yarn creates visual depth and character without requiring complicated stitch patterns. Even simple knitting produces fabric that looks sophisticated and intentional. The result feels closer to a luxury fashion textile than a traditional hand-knitted fabric.

This is exactly the type of yarn I would choose when I want the yarn itself to become part of the design.

➤ IMPORTANT — Yarn Usage

BOUCLE FLAME is best used as a primary yarn rather than a companion yarn.

Perfect for:

• Relaxed cardigans
• Modern jackets
• Bombers
• Dresses
• Skirts
• Summer sweaters
• Openwork pullovers
• Statement scarves
• Fashion-forward crochet garments

➤ Approximate Yarn Requirements

Approximate amounts depend on size, length, stitch pattern, and fabric density. This yarn creates a surprisingly lightweight fabric when knitted on larger needles, so please use these numbers as general planning guidance and always swatch before calculating the final garment amount.

• Scarf: approx. 150–200 g
• Shawl / Wrap: approx. 200–300 g
• Sleeveless Top: approx. 250–350 g
• Summer Sweater: approx. 350–500 g
• Cardigan: approx. 450–600 g
• Bomber / Short Jacket: approx. 500–650 g
• Skirt: approx. 300–400 g
• Dress: approx. 600–750 g

➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT

Although BOUCLE FLAME is beautiful on its own, it can also create fascinating fabrics when paired with smoother yarns.

Fine Merino
Adds structure while allowing the bouclé texture to remain the focal point.

Cashmere
Creates a softer and more luxurious fabric while preserving drape.

Silk-Cashmere Blends
Enhance elegance without competing with the texture.

Fine Paillettes Yarns
Add subtle sparkle for couture-inspired projects.

Personally, I think this yarn is strongest when used alone because the texture deserves to be seen.

✦ Recommended Needles / Hooks

My sample:
• US 8 / 5 mm needles

Suggested starting points:

• US 6–7 (4–4.5 mm) — denser fabric with a more tailored appearance
• US 8 (5 mm) — balanced drape and texture
• US 9–10 (5.5–6 mm) — lighter, more open fabric

Crochet:
• 5–6 mm hooks

As always, swatching is highly recommended.

⟳ Care Instructions

• Hand wash cold
• Use delicate silk detergent
• Do not wring or twist
• Lay flat to dry
• Steam lightly if desired

Formats: WHOLE CONE Sale

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

We ship worldwide with tracking provided. As customs policies and tariffs can change frequently, any duties, taxes, or import fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
