COTTON FLAME is one of those rare cotton yarns that completely changes after washing. On the cone, it looks like an attractive textured cotton. In the finished fabric, however, it becomes noticeably softer, develops a delicate halo, and feels far more luxurious than most knitters expect from 100% cotton. The flammé texture creates natural movement throughout the fabric, making even simple stockinette look polished, relaxed, and expensive.

What impressed me most was how easy this yarn is to knit. The texture naturally softens uneven stitches and minor tension variations, making it an excellent choice for beginners and experienced knitters alike. If you enjoy comfortable everyday garments that look special without requiring complicated stitch patterns, COTTON FLAME is exactly that type of yarn.

⋔ Swatch Notes

I knitted my sample on US 5 (3.75 mm) needles in onw thread and was genuinely surprised by the transformation after washing. The fabric became significantly softer, developed a slight halo, and gained a hand-feel that reminded me more of a cotton-cashmere blend than a traditional cotton yarn.

The flammé texture remained visible after washing and continued to add depth and character to the fabric. One of my favorite features is how forgiving this yarn is. Small tension inconsistencies almost disappear into the texture, making it easy to achieve a beautiful finished result.

⌁ Texture & Feel
• Softens beautifully after washing
• Slight halo develops after washing
• Comfortable against the skin
• Breathable and lightweight
• Soft, relaxed hand-feel
• Gentle flammé texture
• Beautiful drape
• Minimal splitting while knitting

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special

Many cotton yarns look flat in simple stockinette. COTTON FLAME is different. The flammé structure creates natural variation throughout the fabric, making simple stitches more attractive without adding complexity to the knitting process.

The result is a yarn that combines the practicality of cotton with the appearance of a much more expensive fashion yarn. It is easy to knit, easy to wear, and suitable for projects that will spend far more time in your wardrobe than in a drawer.

➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT

Although beautiful on its own, COTTON FLAME also pairs wonderfully with:

Fine Linen
Adds crispness and enhances summer wearability.

Silk
Adds drape and elegance while maintaining lightness.

Cotton-Cashmere Blends
Create a softer and more luxurious fabric.

Fine Paillettes Yarns
Add subtle sparkle for elegant everyday garments.

Personally, I think this yarn performs beautifully on its own because the flammé texture already provides plenty of visual interest.

✦ Recommended Needles / Hooks

• US 4 (3.5 mm) — denser fabric
• US 5 (3.75 mm) — balanced drape and stitch definition
• US 6 (4 mm) — lighter, more relaxed fabric

As always, swatching is highly recommended.

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
