Experience premium Italian craftsmanship with G&G FILATI CIGNO, an exquisite blend of 75% Superkid Mohair, 10% Silk, and 15% Polyamide with elegant integrated 3 mm paillettes.

The soft brushed Superkid Mohair creates a beautiful airy halo, while the silk core adds strength, graceful drape, and natural sheen. The integrated paillettes produce refined shimmer that changes beautifully as the light moves across the fabric—noticeable enough to add elegance, yet subtle enough for everyday wear.

With approximately 410 m (448 yd) per 100 g, CIGNO is perfect for lightweight sweaters, cardigans, shawls, wraps, scarves, lace garments, crochet, machine knitting, and weaving. Knit it alone for a delicate halo, or hold it together with Merino, Cashmere, Silk, Alpaca, Cotton, or another mohair yarn to create your own unique fabric.

Imported directly from Italy.

⌁ Texture & Feel
• Soft brushed halo created by premium Superkid Mohair
• Silk core adds strength, stability, and elegant drape
• Integrated 3 mm paillettes create refined shimmer—not flashy sparkle
• Lightweight, warm, and comfortable to wear
• Beautiful bloom after washing

➤ My Knitting Experience

I knitted swatches in all three available colors using US size 8 (5.0 mm) needles.

The yarn glides effortlessly on the needles and produces a beautifully airy fabric in a single strand. After washing, the mohair blooms noticeably, becoming even softer while maintaining excellent drape.

One thing that surprised me was how differently each color behaves. The blue color has much more visible sparkle because the paillettes stand out against the background. The pink, soft lemon, and transparent paillettes create a much more subtle effect—they almost disappear until light catches them, revealing beautiful pastel reflections.

Personally, I wouldn't use more than one strand for a lightweight sweater. The fabric already has wonderful body, softness, and a beautiful halo on its own.

One of my favorite features is the paillettes. They don't dominate the fabric—they simply add elegant highlights that appear and disappear as the garment moves.

• Crochet Hooks: 3.5–5.0 mm (US E/4–H/8)

Excellent for luxury weaving, especially as a weft yarn. The silk core provides stability while the mohair halo creates soft, lightweight fabrics with subtle sparkle.

Hand wash gently in cool water (30°C / 86°F) using a mild wool and silk detergent. Lay flat to dry. Light steaming will help relax the fibers and enhance the natural halo.

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

We ship worldwide with tracking provided. As customs policies and tariffs can change frequently, any duties, taxes, or import fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
