Experience refined Italian luxury with G&G FILATI CIGNO, an exquisite blend of premium Superkid Mohair and Silk, enhanced with elegant integrated 3 mm paillettes. This sophisticated Italian yarn combines the ethereal softness and airy halo of Superkid Mohair with the strength, fluid drape, and natural sheen of silk, while delicate paillettes add refined sparkle that catches the light with every movement.

Unlike traditional mohair yarns, CIGNO creates a beautifully balanced fabric with exceptional softness, elegant drape, and a luxurious halo without feeling overly bulky. The integrated paillettes are carefully incorporated into the yarn, producing sophisticated shimmer rather than flashy sparkle. The result is an incredibly lightweight yarn that transforms simple stitches into elegant garments worthy of special occasions while remaining perfectly suitable for everyday luxury.

With approximately 410 meters (448 yards) per 100g, this Light Fingering / Lace Weight yarn is perfect for elegant sweaters, cardigans, lightweight pullovers, shawls, wraps, scarves, lace garments, sophisticated accessories, crochet, machine knitting, and weaving. Knit it alone to enjoy its beautiful halo and delicate sparkle, or pair it with Fine Merino, Cashmere, Silk, Alpaca, or another mohair yarn for additional texture, warmth, and depth.

Imported directly from Italy, CIGNO showcases the exceptional quality and refined craftsmanship that have made Italian luxury yarns admired by knitters around the world.

⌁ Texture & Feel
Luxuriously Soft Superkid Mohair
Premium Superkid Mohair creates an exceptionally soft halo with remarkable lightness and warmth, producing garments that feel almost weightless.

Elegant Silk Core
The silk core provides strength, stability, graceful drape, and a subtle natural sheen while beautifully supporting the delicate mohair fibers.

Refined Integrated Sparkle
Elegant 3 mm paillettes are seamlessly incorporated into the yarn, creating delicate shimmer that enhances the fabric without overwhelming its luxurious appearance.

Beautiful Halo Effect
The brushed mohair fibers gently bloom around the stitches, softening the fabric while maintaining excellent stitch definition and elegant texture.

Exceptional Warmth Without Weight
Mohair traps warm air extremely efficiently, creating lightweight garments with impressive insulation that remain comfortable throughout changing seasons.

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special
Superkid Mohair is considered one of the world's most luxurious natural fibers, prized for its incredible softness, warmth, durability, and unmistakable halo. Combined with silk and elegant paillettes, CIGNO creates sophisticated fabrics that are both glamorous and wearable. The lightweight construction allows knitters to create elegant garments that feel luxurious without becoming heavy, making this yarn equally beautiful for delicate shawls, statement sweaters, and refined evening pieces.

➤ My Knitting Experience
I knitted swatches in all three available colors using US size 8 (5.0 mm) knitting needles, and I truly enjoyed working with this yarn. It glides effortlessly on the needles, and even in a single strand, it creates a beautifully airy, elegant fabric with excellent drape.

One thing I noticed immediately is that the three colorways create very different visual effects. The blue colorway has noticeably more visible paillettes, or at least they stand out much more, creating a brighter, more eye-catching sparkle. The pink and soft lemon paillettes are much more delicate and understated, revealing different pastel reflections depending on the angle of the light. The transparent paillettes are perhaps the most elegant of all—they almost disappear into the mohair and only reveal their beautiful shimmer when light catches them.

After washing, the mohair bloomed beautifully, becoming even softer while maintaining its light, airy structure. The silk gives the fabric graceful drape, while the Superkid Mohair keeps even larger garments remarkably lightweight. I honestly wouldn't knit this yarn with more than one strand for a lightweight sweater—it is absolutely beautiful on its own.

This yarn is perfect for delicate "cobweb" sweaters, elegant shawls, wraps, stoles, baktus scarves, and virtually any project where you want the softness and beauty of premium mohair. At the same time, because of its versatile thickness, it also works wonderfully as a companion yarn, adding a luxurious halo and subtle sparkle to almost any other yarn.

The integrated paillettes are one of my favorite features. They create elegant shimmer without feeling excessive, making the yarn look sophisticated rather than flashy. In my opinion, CIGNO is completely self-sufficient—it doesn't need another novelty yarn to make a statement.

I can confidently say that I highly recommend this yarn. It is beautiful, elegant, luxurious, easy to knit, and produces exceptionally lightweight garments with a gorgeous halo, graceful drape, and refined sparkle.

⟳ Care Instructions
Hand wash gently in cool water (30°C / 86°F) using a mild detergent formulated for wool and silk. Do not wring or twist. Press excess moisture into a clean towel and lay flat to dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Light steaming from a distance will help relax the fibers and enhance the natural halo. Proper care will preserve the softness, elegant drape, and refined shimmer of this luxurious Italian yarn for years to come.

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

We ship worldwide with tracking provided. As customs policies and tariffs can change frequently, any duties, taxes, or import fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
