SAMARKANDA by Lanecardate is a rare luxury Italian yarn made from 100% Pure Camel Hair, with approximately 300 meters per 100 g — an exceptional balance of warmth, softness, elegance, and lightweight comfort. This is the kind of yarn that instantly feels expensive in your hands and creates garments that look refined even in the simplest stitches.

Pure camel hair is considered one of the most luxurious natural animal fibers in the world. It is naturally thermo-regulating, breathable, lightweight, moisture-managing, and remarkably warm without heaviness. Unlike many fluffy luxury fibers, camel hair creates elegant fabric with clean stitch definition, beautiful drape, and sophisticated matte appearance.

SAMARKANDA is especially valuable because it uses the natural “Pure Camel” shade — a timeless luxury color that cannot truly be replicated artificially. The result is elegant knitwear with natural depth, warmth, and understated richness.

Lanecardate itself is one of the oldest and most respected Italian spinning mills, working with luxury fibers for generations and known for premium-quality carded yarns and exceptional raw material sourcing.

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
