➤ My First Impressions
I knitted my swatch using only two strands on US 4 (3.5 mm) needles, and I was genuinely impressed with this yarn from the very first stitches. It is incredibly pleasant to knit with. The yarn glides smoothly across the needles while its natural slub texture continuously adds visual interest, making every row enjoyable to work.

After washing, the transformation was beautiful. The fabric relaxed, softened, and opened perfectly while maintaining its distinctive textured appearance. In my opinion, two strands are completely sufficient for elegant summer knitwear, creating a lightweight fabric with beautiful drape and excellent stitch definition.

What surprised me most was the hand of the finished fabric. It feels almost like velvet—soft, smooth, and luxurious against the skin. The sophisticated pearl gray color has incredible depth, enhanced by the natural irregularity of the Tussah silk. Rather than appearing perfectly uniform, the yarn has its own personality and character, giving finished garments a truly designer look.

I honestly love this yarn. It is one of the most distinctive silk yarns I've worked with, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something beyond ordinary silk.

✦ Texture & Feel:
Beautiful natural slubs, matte Wild Tussah silk appearance, elegant pearl gray mélange, and an intentionally irregular texture throughout the strand. The fiammato construction gives the fabric depth, movement, and visual richness while maintaining the luxurious softness expected from premium Italian silk.

➤ Recommended Uses:
Ideal for lightweight sweaters, summer tops, elegant cardigans, scarves, shawls, wraps, shells, tunics, breathable summer garments, and sophisticated woven textiles. Also excellent for luxury weaving projects where texture and natural character are desired.

✧ Tips & Recommendations:
This yarn is the star of the project, so I recommend simple stitch patterns that allow its natural slub texture to shine. Stockinette, garter stitch, simple lace, and understated textures beautifully showcase the irregular Shantung effect. Hold additional strands together if a heavier fabric is desired.

➤ Recommended Needles/Hooks:
• Knitting: Approximately US 3–5 (3.25–3.75 mm) using two strands, or adjust according to the number of strands held together and desired fabric.
• Crochet: Choose hook size based on your preferred gauge.
• Always knit a swatch before beginning your project.

➤ Weaving Suitability:
Excellent for both warp and weft weaving. The natural slub texture produces fabrics with exceptional depth, elegance, and the signature rustic character that makes Wild Tussah silk so highly valued by textile artists.

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage:
• Summer Sweater (M): 250–350g
• Lightweight Cardigan: 300–400g
• Summer Top: 150–250g
• Shawl or Wrap: 150–250g
• Scarf: 100–180g

⟳ Care Instructions:
• Hand wash gently in cool water with a delicate silk detergent
• Do not wring or twist
• Lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight
• Steam lightly if desired
• Proper washing allows the fibers to relax while preserving the beautiful natural slub texture that makes this luxury Wild Tussah silk so distinctive.

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
