LINONE by NEW MILL, Italy is a refined 100% pure linen yarn with a fresh, elegant character and beautiful natural texture. This fine lace-weight yarn is breathable, lightweight, and especially well suited for warm-weather garments, refined accessories, and sophisticated handmade pieces.

Like true linen, it has a crisp and slightly dry feel at first, but it softens beautifully with washing and wear. LINONE is perfect for knitting, crochet, and weaving, whether used in multiple strands on its own or blended with other yarns to create custom texture, softness, and fabric structure.

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special
• 100% pure Italian linen
• Fine, breathable, and naturally elegant
• Excellent for warm-weather knitting, crochet, and weaving
• Beautiful on its own in multiple strands or blended with other yarns
• Softens nicely with washing and wear
• Creates fabric with a fresh, clean, natural look

⌁ Texture & Feel
• Crisp and dry at first touch
• Fresh, breathable linen feel
• Natural matte look
• Softens over time
• Light, airy, and refined
• Elegant relaxed drape after washing

✧ Recommended Uses
• Summer tops and lightweight sweaters
• Cardigans and layering pieces
• Shawls and scarves
• Crochet garments and accessories
• Lightweight openwork projects
• Weaving and blended yarn projects

➤ IMPORTANT — Yarn Usage
• Single-strand hand knitting: generally too fine for most projects
• Single strand may be suitable for weaving, machine knitting, crochet, or very delicate work
• For hand knitting, this yarn is usually more practical in multiple strands
• A very nice option for makers who like to control fabric thickness themselves

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage
• Lace shawls and wraps: 2 strands, approx. 120–200 g
• Lightweight summer tops: 2–3 strands, approx. 200–300 g
• Sweaters and cardigans: 3–4 strands, approx. 300–450 g
• Scarves and accessories: 2 strands, approx. 80–150 g

➤ Gauge Examples (Approximate)
Actual gauge depends on strand count, needle size, and personal knitting style.

2 strands:
approx. 24–28 stitches / 10 cm with 3.0–3.5 mm needles

3 strands:
approx. 20–24 stitches / 10 cm with 3.5–4.0 mm needles

4 strands:
approx. 17–20 stitches / 10 cm with 4.0–4.5 mm needles

Always knit and wash a swatch before starting the final project.

➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT
LINONE works beautifully on its own, but it also pairs very well with other fine yarns from iDOKNiT.

Silk
Adds softness, drape, and a refined glow while keeping the fabric breathable.

Mohair on Silk
Adds halo and softness for a more airy and textured result.

Fine Merino or Cashmere
Creates a softer and slightly warmer fabric while preserving linen’s natural freshness.

Cotton
Adds softness and everyday comfort while maintaining a breathable summer feel.

These combinations make LINONE especially attractive for makers who enjoy building custom fabrics with texture, drape, and seasonal versatility.

➤ Recommended Needles / Hooks
• Final needle or hook size depends on the number of strands used
• Swatching is recommended, especially with linen, as the fabric changes after washing
• Larger needles can create a more open, airy summer fabric

➤ Weaving Suitability
• Excellent for weaving
• Beautiful for breathable, lightweight fabrics
• Suitable for delicate yet durable textile work
• Especially attractive when natural texture and matte character are desired

⟳ Care Instructions
• Hand wash gently in cold water with mild detergent
• Do not wring or twist
• Lay flat to dry
• Linen softens beautifully with washing and wearing
• Wash swatch before final sizing calculations

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

We ship worldwide with tracking provided. As customs policies and tariffs can change frequently, any duties, taxes, or import fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
