PECCI FILATI AUDREY is an exceptionally light and luxurious Italian brushed yarn made with 35% Superkid Mohair and 35% Baby Alpaca. These two premium fibers create a soft, airy halo with beautiful warmth but very little weight. PECCI FILATI describes AUDREY as a very fine brushed yarn with noble fibers.
At 1500m/100g (1640yd/3.52oz), AUDREY gives you much more freedom than a conventional ready-to-knit yarn. Hold several strands together for a cloud-like sweater or cardigan, use fewer strands for an airy shawl or scarf, or add just one strand to another yarn to give it a luxurious Mohair-Alpaca halo. It is also an excellent fine yarn for machine knitting and an intriguing choice for weavers.

✦ Why Choose AUDREY?
The beauty of AUDREY is the combination of Superkid Mohair + Baby Alpaca in the same yarn. Superkid Mohair brings the airy, fluffy halo; Baby Alpaca adds softness and warmth. Together they create a sophisticated brushed fabric that looks substantial while remaining surprisingly lightweight.
AUDREY is also wonderfully flexible. You are not limited to one yarn thickness: change the number of strands and you change the fabric. This makes one yarn useful for delicate accessories, lightweight sweaters, warmer cardigans, machine knitting, weaving, or as a companion to another favorite yarn.
➤ How Many Strands Should I Use?
• 1 strand — 1500m/100g (1640yd/3.52oz) — Lace; extremely fine, best for very airy work, machine knitting, weaving, or as a companion strand
• 2 strands — 750m/100g (820yd/3.52oz) — Lace; delicate and lightweight
• 3 strands — 500m/100g (547yd/3.52oz) — Lace; beautiful for airy sweaters, cardigans, shawls and wraps
• 4 strands — 375m/100g (410yd/3.52oz) — Fingering; an excellent starting point for a lightweight fluffy sweater
• 5 strands — 300m/100g (328yd/3.52oz) — Sport; fuller and warmer while remaining light
• 6 strands — 250m/100g (273yd/3.52oz) — DK; soft, plush fabric for warmer sweaters and cardigans
For most hand knitters, 3–5 strands are the most versatile place to start. Needle size depends on the number of strands and how airy or dense you want your fabric. Make and wash a small swatch before beginning your project.
➤ What Can I Make — and How Much Should I Buy?
These are practical starting quantities for AUDREY. Amounts will vary with size, gauge, garment length, stitch pattern and desired fabric.
• Airy adult sweater, 2–3 strands: 150–200g
• Classic lightweight fluffy sweater, 4 strands: 200–250g
• Fuller warm sweater, 5–6 strands: 250–350g
• Cardigan, 4–5 strands: 250–350g
• Long or oversized sweater/cardigan: 300–400g
• Light shawl or wrap, 1–3 strands: 75–150g
• Scarf, 2–4 strands: 75–150g
• Cowl, 3–5 strands: 50–100g
• Hat, 4–6 strands: 50–100g
The sweater quantities are useful starting estimates for an adult S–M. For L–XL, longer garments, oversized shapes, or generous sleeves, purchase additional yarn.
➤ One Strand Can Transform Another Yarn
You don't have to knit AUDREY by itself. Hold one strand together with Merino, cashmere, wool, silk, or another fine yarn to add a soft Mohair-Alpaca halo, extra warmth, and beautiful depth.
Because AUDREY contains 1500m / 1640yd in only 100g, you need surprisingly little when using it as a companion:
• 50g = 750m / 820yd
• 100g = 1500m / 1640yd
• 150g = 2250m / 2460yd
• 200g = 3000m / 3281yd
For example, if your sweater pattern requires about 1500m / 1640yd of your main yarn, approximately 100g of AUDREY provides enough length to carry one strand throughout the project.
⋔ Beautiful Projects for AUDREY
Think soft rather than heavy: cloud-like pullovers, lightweight cardigans, oversized sweaters, delicate shawls, cozy scarves, airy wraps, hats and other accessories. It is especially attractive for simple designs where the luxurious brushed surface becomes part of the finished look.
AUDREY is also excellent for combining with smooth yarns when you want to turn a familiar sweater pattern into something softer and more dimensional.
⫯ For Weavers
AUDREY offers weavers something particularly beautiful: a soft Mohair-Alpaca halo without a heavy yarn. Use it for scarves, shawls, wraps, lightweight apparel fabrics, or as an accent alongside a smoother yarn.
Its brushed texture can add softness and visual depth to woven cloth. Sample before beginning a larger project to see how the halo develops after finishing.
➤ Machine Knitting
At 1500m/100g (1640yd/3.52oz), AUDREY is an excellent yarn to explore for fine machine knitting. Use it alone where appropriate for your machine or combine it with another fine yarn for a soft brushed effect. Always test a small sample first.
➤ Complete the Project — Recommended From iDOKNiT
• ZEGNA BARUFFA CASHWOOL — smooth Extra Fine Merino creates a beautiful base underneath AUDREY's soft Mohair-Alpaca halo.
• TOLLEGNO HARMONY — an especially easy pairing because HARMONY is also 1500m/100g. One strand of each gives you matching lengths while combining smooth Extra Fine Merino with AUDREY's halo.
• FILCOM CASHSILK — a luxurious choice when you want to combine cashmere and silk with the softness and halo of Superkid Mohair and Baby Alpaca.
Complete Choice — Needles
ChiaoGoo RED Lace 32" Fixed Circular Knitting Needles are a good choice for fine and multi-strand knitting. Choose your needle size according to the number of strands, your pattern, and the fabric you want.
⟳ Care Instructions
Hand wash gently in cool water. Do not agitate or wring. Dry flat to help preserve the soft brushed surface.

⚑ FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.
⚑ FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. PLEASE BUY CONES HERE
Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.
Please Note
Please Note
- Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
- Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
- FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
- Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
