PROFILO MONGOLIA is a luxurious Italian 60% Cashmere / 40% Yak yarn combining exceptional softness with the natural warmth of Yak. The fine 2-ply construction creates a lightweight, refined fabric, while the Cashmere/Yak blend develops a delicate soft halo after washing.
At 700m/100g (766y/3.52oz), MONGOLIA is exceptionally versatile. For hand knitting, I recommend starting with two strands on US 4 (3.5 mm) needles or larger. It is also an excellent machine-knitting yarn and can be worked in one strand, depending on your machine and desired fabric. One strand can also be combined with a fine companion yarn to add elasticity, volume, or drape.

➤ My First Impressions
I knitted my sample with two strands on US 4 (3.5 mm) needles, and the yarn was very easy and pleasant to knit.
After washing, the fabric changed beautifully. The stitches relaxed and became more even, the yarn opened up, and a delicate soft halo developed across the surface. The finished fabric feels soft, warm, and luxurious without being heavy.
For hand knitting, two strands are my preferred starting point when MONGOLIA is used by itself. Because Yak is naturally very warm, there is no need to create an excessively thick fabric.

MONGOLIA is an excellent choice for machine knitting. At Nm 2/14000 and 700m/100g, it can be knitted in one strand for fine, lightweight Cashmere/Yak fabric.
It is especially suitable for machine-knit sweaters, cardigans, turtlenecks, tops, and fine layering pieces. Exact settings will depend on your knitting machine, gauge, tension, and desired fabric, so always knit and wash a test sample first.
