SUPERGEELONG is an exceptional Italian extra-fine lace-weight merino yarn by Zegna Baruffa, a mill internationally respected for producing some of the finest merino fibers available. Among professionals, SUPERGEELONG is often described as cashmere behavior at a merino price point — a rare balance of luxury, performance, and value.

Dry and slightly crisp on the cone, this yarn transforms completely after washing. Once wet-finished, SUPERGEELONG blooms into a soft, supple fabric with delicate loft, fluid drape, and a distinctly cashmere-like handfeel. After washing, it behaves remarkably like cashmere, offering warmth, elasticity, and next-to-skin comfort while remaining lightweight and breathable.

Texture & Feel
A combed extra-fine merino with a dry handfeel before washing. After blocking, the yarn blooms dramatically, becoming soft, elastic, and gently lofty. The finished fabric closely resembles cashmere in softness and drape, while maintaining the durability and resilience of fine merino.

Knitting Recommendations
This yarn is not suitable for single-strand hand knitting.
Recommended starting point: 4 strands held together.
• Suggested needles (4 strands): 3.5–4.5 mm, adjusted for stitch pattern and desired drape
Ideal for multi-strand hand knitting, machine knitting, and refined blending.

Yarn Usage & How Much You Need (Multi-Strand Knitting)
• Sweater / Cardigan (S–M): 450–550 g
• Sweater / Cardigan (L–XL): 600–750 g
• Lightweight top or blouse: 320–450 g
• Shawl or wrap: 250–380 g

Weaving Recommendations
Excellent for fine weaving projects.
Weft: single or doubled
Warp: doubled strands or paired with a support yarn
• Ideal for scarves, stoles, panels, and lightweight luxury fabrics
After wet finishing, woven textiles become fluid, soft, and gently elastic.

Care Instructions
• Hand wash cold with gentle wool detergent
• Do not wring or twist
• Lay flat to dry
• Wet finishing is essential to unlock the full bloom and cashmere-like softness

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEACE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

We ship worldwide with tracking provided. As customs policies and tariffs can change frequently, any duties, taxes, or import fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
