ALBA SOFT DÉGRADÉ is a truly special Italian lace-weight yarn by Botto Giuseppe, created for knitters who love long, elegant color transitions. This is a real degradé effect: knit in long sections and you’ll see the shade slowly transform from tone to tone with a seamless fade — no harsh stripes, just a smooth, high-end gradient that looks like designer knitwear.

This is not a flat, ordinary merino. ALBA SOFT is known for its airy, fluffy merino character that blooms after washing and blocking, creating a soft, cloudlike fabric. The added polyamide improves durability and shape retention, making it a smart choice for delicate projects you still want to wear often.

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special
• True degradé color effect — long, elegant color changes as you knit
• Airy, fluffy merino feel with a soft bloom after washing and blocking
• Polyamide adds strength, wear resistance, and better shape retention
• A perfect companion strand — hold it together with any solid-color yarn to add a soft degradé effect without changing your base color
• Perfect for lightweight luxury garments and accessories with a “designer” finish

⌁ Texture & Feel
• Soft, airy, and lightly fluffy hand (not flat merino)
• Blooms and becomes even softer after washing and blocking
• Creates a light, elegant fabric with a gentle halo and beautiful drape

➤ Recommended Uses
• Shawls, wraps, and scarves that highlight long gradient transitions
• Sweaters, cardigans, vests, and tops (held in multiple strands)
• Degradé accessories where you want smooth fades and refined texture
• Pairing with a solid yarn as a companion strand for extra depth and elegance

➤ Recommended Needles
• Single strand is not recommended (extra-fine yarn).
• 2 strands: approx. US 2–4 (2.75–3.5 mm) → ~600 m/100 g
• 3 strands: approx. US 4–6 (3.5–4.0 mm) → ~400 m/100 g
• 4 strands: approx. US 6–8 (4.0–5.0 mm) → ~300 m/100 g (comfortable thickness)
• Swatching is strongly recommended to match your desired fabric

➤ Yarn Usage (Approximate)
• Scarf: 120–220 g (held 2–4 strands)
• Shawl / Wrap: 150–300 g (held 2–4 strands; larger pieces show the fade best)
• Sweater / Cardigan: 300–550 g (held 3–4 strands; depends on size & gauge)
• Accessories: 80–180 g (held 2–3 strands)

➤ Weaving Suitability
• Suitable for weaving with proper tension
• For more stable cloth, consider using multiple ends together

⟳ Care Instructions
• Hand wash cold with gentle wool detergent
• Do not wring
• Lay flat to dry
• Block gently to reveal softness, bloom, and the best degradé effect

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEACE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

We ship worldwide with tracking provided. As customs policies and tariffs can change frequently, any duties, taxes, or import fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
