CASHMERE 10% by Biagioli Modesto, Italy is a luxury Italian sport weight yarn made from 10% cashmere, 78% merino wool, and 2% cotton, with approximately 280 meters per 100 g. It has a cable / chain thread structure that makes the yarn lightweight, easy to knit, and comfortable for refined everyday garments. This yarn is a beautiful choice for sweaters, cardigans, wraps, accessories, and soft layering pieces.

The blend offers the warmth and elasticity of merino with the added softness of cashmere, while the chain structure gives the yarn a light, pleasant body. It is not heavy or flat — the thread has enough volume to create a soft fabric with a clean appearance, and after washing, it becomes even more comfortable and begins to show a delicate cashmere halo.

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special
CASHMERE 10% is a very practical luxury blend: soft enough for comfortable garments, but still easy to wear and care for compared to very delicate high-cashmere yarns. The merino gives elasticity and warmth, the cashmere adds softness and a more refined hand, and the chain structure keeps the finished fabric lighter and more dimensional.

This is a great yarn for knitters who want something soft and elevated, but still realistic for everyday knitwear. It creates a polished fabric without feeling heavy, and the construction makes knitting smooth and fast.

✧ Fiber Profile
• Merino wool adds softness, warmth, breathability, and elasticity
• Cashmere adds a softer touch and subtle luxury feel
• Cotton helps support the structure of the chain thread
• Cable / chain construction creates light volume and easy knitting

➤ IMPORTANT — Yarn Usage
I knitted a sample with US size 4 needles, and the yarn was very easy and fast to work with because of its chain construction. That said, I personally think US size 5 or 6 may be even better if you want to give the yarn more room to open and create a softer, airier fabric.

The thread still has some production wax, which is normal for this type of cone yarn, but even after the first wash, the swatch became noticeably softer. The appearance did not change dramatically, but I could already see a small cashmere halo starting to appear. I believe that after a few washes, the finished knitwear will become even softer and more pleasant to wear.

Overall, this is a great composition, great quality, and a very enjoyable yarn to knit.

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage
• Lightweight sweaters and cardigans
• Everyday luxury pullovers
• Soft scarves and wraps
• Hats, cowls, and accessories
• Comfortable layering pieces
• Simple stitch patterns where the soft fabric and chain texture can show beautifully

➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT
• Fine silk yarn for extra drape and refinement
• Mohair or brushed alpaca for more halo and softness
• Paillettes yarn for an elegant fashion effect
• Fine merino or cashmere companions for warmer multi-strand projects

✦ Recommended Needles / Hooks
• Knitting needles: US 4–6 depending on desired density and openness
• Crochet hooks: approximately 3.0–4.0 mm
• US size 4 creates a more controlled fabric; US size 5–6 may allow the yarn to open more beautifully

⫯ Weaving Suitability
• Suitable for soft woven fabrics and lightweight textured pieces
• Best used where softness, warmth, and gentle elasticity are desired
• The chain structure may add dimension and softness to woven fabric

⟳ Care Instructions
• Hand wash gently in cool water with wool-safe detergent
• Do not wring or twist
• Lay flat to dry and reshape while damp
• Store folded rather than hanging
• Wash a swatch first to understand final softness and fabric behavior

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
