This particular Dundaga Lambswool stands apart from ordinary rustic yarns because it is minimally processed, lanolin-rich, and intentionally left “alive.” Unlike most commercial wool that is stripped, carbonized, and standardized, this yarn retains up to 70% of its natural lanolin, giving it remarkable warmth, gentle water resistance, and a living, responsive feel in the hands. Spun as a 6/1 single ply and hand-dyed in small batches, it offers rare depth, structure, and authenticity—softening beautifully with each wash while preserving the honest character of true heritage wool.

Spun and dyed at the historic Paces Vilnas Fabrika in Latvia, this yarn is produced using vintage equipment and low-intervention methods that preserve the wool’s natural structure, texture, and integrity. Every skein carries the unmistakable spirit of Latvian wool heritage—honest, durable, and full of warmth.

All colors behave like watercolor paints—they blend, stripe, and shift naturally in your work, allowing you to easily create artistic, one-of-a-kind pieces. Whether you’re knitting a shawl, sweater, or scarf, every project becomes a unique masterpiece. Thanks to the mill’s refined spinning process, this yarn features invisible joins between fiber ends—so there are no knots at all, making your knitting experience smoother and more enjoyable from start to finish.

Recommended Uses:
Perfect for knitting, crochet, felting, and weaving. Use it for shawls, beanies, socks, sweaters, wraps, and rustic accessories. This yarn’s lightweight structure and natural warmth make it a favorite for heirloom-quality projects. It pairs beautifully with mohair or fine alpaca for shawls and garments when you want extra softness while preserving the rustic character.

Texture Notes:
• Lanolin-rich, slightly crisp texture
• Softens significantly with warm washing
• Non-superwash, traditionally processediDOKNiTdundun
• Occasional knots and plant matter may be present

A Note from the Knitter
Dundaga is a true rustic wool that is minimally processed to retain the best qualities of the fiber. It is crucial to wash and block your finished project to fully transform the yarn. The first wash removes residual dirt and sets the final texture, revealing the true softness, elasticity, and stitch definition that this heritage yarn is famous for.

Also, be aware that Dundaga is famous for its unique, artisanal dyeing process. Colors often blend and overlap slightly within the skein, which contributes to the yarn’s watercolor effect and unique striping as you knit. It is highly recommended to buy enough yarn for your entire project as color lots can vary significantly. Finally, due to the minimal processing and retained lanolin, this yarn is prone to felting; please follow the hand-wash instructions precisely to avoid shrinking.
