This beautifully traditional wool is spun from 100% merino wool sourced from German sheep and processed at the historic Paces Vilnas Fabrika in Latvia, where time-honored methods help preserve the fiber’s natural character. Because no chemical detergents are used in processing, the yarn retains up to 70% of its natural lanolin, giving it warmth, elasticity, gentle bloom, and that special “alive” feeling in the hands while knitting or crocheting.

⌁ Texture & Feel

• Softens and blooms noticeably after washing and blocking
• Elastic, springy, and pleasant to work with
• Excellent stitch definition with a lightly rustic, heritage feel
⌁ Why This Wool Is Special
This yarn brings together the comfort of merino with the authenticity of traditional wool processing. It is not a flat, over-processed, lifeless merino. Instead, it still feels rich in natural fiber character, with softness, elasticity, and a beautiful natural warmth that develops even more after the first wash.
Because the wool retains so much of its natural lanolin, it feels wonderfully smooth in the hands and creates fabric that is warm, breathable, and naturally more protective against moisture than heavily stripped modern yarns. Finished pieces feel more balanced, more substantial, and more alive than many superwash yarns.
Another valuable detail for buyers: this yarn tends to improve after washing. The fabric relaxes, the single-ply strand blooms slightly, and the finished piece becomes softer and more cohesive, while still keeping beautiful stitch definition and shape.
➤ Recommended Needles & Hooks
• Knitting needles: 3.0 – 3.5 mm
• Crochet hooks: 2.75 – 3.5 mm
• Use smaller needles for firmer fabric and larger needles for a softer, more open drape
➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT
This yarn pairs beautifully with extra-fine alpaca, silk mohair, suri alpaca, or other soft lace companions when you want a softer halo, more loft, or extra warmth. It also works beautifully on its own for knitters who love a more natural wool feel with structure and character.

• A subtle natural halo may appear, which is part of the yarn’s beauty
⌁ Why This Yarn Excels
• Warmth: Lanolin-rich wool helps retain warmth exceptionally well
• Elasticity: Natural spring gives the fabric resilience and shape retention
• Softness: Merino content makes it more comfortable than many traditional wools

➤ Especially Loved for Babies & Everyday Warmth
Many knitters especially appreciate this yarn for baby blankets, baby accessories, and garments worn close to the body because it creates fabric that feels warm, breathable, and naturally temperature-balancing rather than heavy or overly hot. The lanolin-rich wool has a lively, natural feel and is especially valued for projects where gentle warmth and comfort matter.
This yarn is also an excellent choice for people who often feel cold, especially for socks, mittens, vests, jackets, and other insulating layers. It creates fabric that holds warmth beautifully while still feeling breathable and comfortable, making it ideal for pieces meant to keep the body cozy in changing temperatures.
➤ Important Note
This is not a slippery, polished, superwash-style yarn. It is a more natural wool for knitters and crocheters who appreciate authenticity, warmth, elasticity, and fiber character. Buyers who love traditional wool will likely find it especially satisfying.
For very sensitive skin, this yarn may feel even better after washing, or when paired with a soft companion strand such as alpaca or silk mohair.

⚑ Care Instructions
• Hand washing is the safest and most recommended method
• Wash in cool to lukewarm water with wool shampoo or gentle wool wash
• Let soak gently; avoid rubbing, twisting, or sudden temperature changes
• Roll in a towel to remove excess water
• Dry flat and reshape while damp
From my own experience, I have also washed this yarn in the machine on a very gentle / low-risk wool cycle using warm-to-cool water and wool shampoo, and it came through well. However, because this is a non-superwash, lanolin-rich single-ply wool, machine washing should always be done carefully and at the buyer’s own discretion.
• Do not use bleach
• Do not use harsh detergents
• Do not tumble dry
• Avoid hot water and aggressive spin cycles
