TAGLIATINO by G&G Filati, Italy is a rare and playful Italian cotton yarn with a delicate eyelash or grass-like texture that creates light, airy fabric with subtle visual volume. Made from 100% premium cotton, this fingering-weight yarn offers an unusual balance of softness, breathability, and surface interest. At approximately 410 meters / 448 yards per 100 g, it is especially well suited for lightweight summer garments, textured accessories, trims, and creative projects where the yarn itself becomes part of the design.

This is the kind of yarn that adds texture without heaviness. Its fine fur-like strand gives fabric movement and a softly decorative finish, while the cotton base keeps it breathable and comfortable. TAGLIATINO can be used on its own for an airy textured fabric or carried together with another yarn to create a more subtle textured effect.

⋔ Swatch Notes
This yarn works best when the stitch pattern stays simple and allows the eyelash texture to remain visible. The decorative effect comes from the yarn itself, so overly complex stitches are usually unnecessary.

Used on its own, TAGLIATINO creates a light, airy fabric with a gentle fluffy effect. Carried together with another yarn, it adds soft texture and visual depth without overwhelming the main base. In my opinion, it is especially effective for trims, accents, decorative panels, and lightweight summer pieces where texture matters more than structure.

Because of its fine textured strand, wooden or bamboo needles may feel easier to control than very smooth metal needles.

⌁ Texture & Feel
• Fine, fur-like strands create a delicate grassy texture
• Light, breathable, and softly textured
• Matte cotton finish with elegant surface interest
• Adds movement and decorative softness without bulk

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special
TAGLIATINO stands out because it combines novelty texture with the practicality of cotton in a much lighter fingering-weight format. Many textured yarns feel bulky, synthetic, or too warm, but this yarn stays airy and breathable while still creating a visible decorative effect.

It is especially appealing for makers who want to add playful texture to summer garments and accessories without losing lightness. The final fabric feels creative, soft, and visually distinctive.

✧ Texture Profile — Fine Cotton Eyelash Structure
This yarn is special because of its construction and surface effect rather than a complex fiber blend.

Cotton adds:
• Breathability
• Softness
• Lightweight comfort
• Better warm-weather usability

The eyelash / grass-like structure adds:
• Gentle volume
• A light decorative finish
• Surface texture and movement
• Visual interest even in simple stitches

Together, they create a yarn that feels airy, unusual, and highly expressive.

➤ IMPORTANT — Yarn Usage
• Best suited to simple stitches that let the texture remain visible
• Suitable for lightweight tops, airy cardigans, trims, decorative elements, shawls, scarves, and textured accessories
• Can be used alone for a soft airy effect
• Can be carried with another yarn for subtle texture and depth
• Suitable for knitting and crochet
• Excellent for decorative weft applications in weaving
• Not recommended for warp due to the delicate eyelash structure

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage
• Short-sleeve top: approx. 250–350 g
• Long-sleeve sweater: approx. 350–500 g
• Scarf: approx. 100–200 g
• Shawl: approx. 150–250 g
• Dress: approx. 500–700 g

➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT
TAGLIATINO pairs especially well with smoother yarns that allow its texture to stand out while creating a more balanced finished fabric.

Cotton Yarns
Create breathable summer fabrics with added texture.

Silk or Viscose Blends
Add drape and contrast against the matte fluffy surface.

Linen Yarns
Create an interesting combination of crispness and softness.

Fine Merino or Soft Blends
Can add a little body while preserving the decorative effect.

These pairings make TAGLIATINO especially appealing for makers who enjoy combining novelty texture with smoother yarns for more dimensional fabric.

✦ Recommended Needles / Hooks
• Knitting: start around US 3–5 / 3.25–3.75 mm

⫯ Weaving Suitability
• Excellent as a decorative weft yarn
• Adds soft texture to woven fabrics
• Best where visual effect is the priority
• Not recommended for warp

⟳ Care Instructions
• Hand wash gently in cold water with mild detergent

• Lay flat to dry to preserve texture
• Wash swatch before final sizing calculations

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
