SPARKLING is a sophisticated Italian fashion yarn produced by IGEA, Italy, combining the softness of Superkid Mohair with the glamour of integrated sparkle in a lightweight chainette construction. Made from 34% Polyester, 28% Superkid Mohair, 28% Polyamide, and 10% Wool, this yarn delivers softness, volume, texture, and elegant shimmer in one beautifully engineered strand.
At approximately 400 meters per 100 grams, SPARKLING creates fabric that appears much fuller than a traditional yarn of similar yardage thanks to its airy chainette structure. The mohair provides a soft halo and luxurious touch, while the polyester component adds subtle sparkle throughout the strand. The result is a lightweight yet visually rich fabric often associated with luxury Italian designer knitwear and contemporary fashion collections.
What makes SPARKLING especially interesting is the balance between softness and glamour. Unlike many novelty sparkle yarns, the generous mohair content creates a refined halo and softens the overall feel of the fabric, while the integrated sparkle adds sophistication and visual depth without overwhelming the design.
I highly recommend zooming in on each photo to fully appreciate the beauty of this yarn. The close-up images reveal the delicate texture, soft halo, and subtle sparkle that make SPARKLING truly special.

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special
SPARKLING is not a traditional mohair yarn and it is not a basic novelty sparkle yarn.
The chainette construction traps air inside the yarn, creating volume and softness while keeping the finished fabric surprisingly lightweight. The Superkid Mohair creates a refined halo, while the polyester sparkle adds glamour and visual interest. Polyamide provides strength and helps maintain the structure of the chainette construction.
This combination creates the type of fabric frequently seen in luxury Italian ready-to-wear collections, where softness, texture, and subtle sparkle work together to create sophisticated garments.
Because of its construction, SPARKLING knits much fuller than a traditional 400m yarn and produces fabrics with excellent visual impact while remaining comfortable to wear.
I knitted the swatch using US Size 5 (3.75 mm) needles in one strand.
At first, I was a little concerned because I could feel the sparkle while knitting. However, the yarn was incredibly easy and fast to work with. Its fluffy chainette construction beautifully hides small imperfections, making it very forgiving—even if your tension isn't perfectly even.
After washing, the transformation was impressive. The yarn bloomed beautifully, becoming much softer as the delicate mohair halo opened up and gently covered the sparkle. The lurex became much less noticeable against the skin and looked far more refined and elegant.
Overall, my impression of this yarn is extremely positive. It's enjoyable to knit, works up quickly, and I would highly recommend it even for beginners. And judging by the gorgeous colors available, it's perfect for Christmas sweaters, festive accessories, holiday garments—and, of course, many beautiful projects to enjoy all year round.

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.
Please Note
Please Note
- Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
- Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
- FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
- Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
