Experience refined Italian textile design with JARDIN TEMPERE by Industria Italiana Filati—a beautifully engineered cotton, linen, and silk yarn that immediately stands out for its sophisticated texture. At first glance it looks almost hand-painted, combining the natural character of flame yarn with the elegant depth of mouliné construction to create fabric that is effortlessly interesting, even in the simplest stitches.

Unlike many textured summer yarns, JARDIN TEMPERE doesn't rely on bold slubs or dramatic thick-and-thin sections. Instead, its subtle flame effect, twisted two-tone construction, and soft natural melange create quiet luxury that becomes even more beautiful as the fabric grows. Whether knitted alone or paired with other luxury fibers, this yarn gives projects a modern, artisanal appearance that looks far more complex than the knitting itself.

My First Impressions
The first thing that caught my attention was its unique construction. The strand combines two beautiful textile techniques at once. It has a subtle flame effect because the yarn isn't perfectly uniform, while the twisted light and dark strands create a true mouliné appearance. At the same time, it almost looks hand-dyed, since the changing colors create the illusion of uneven dyeing instead of simply twisting two colors together. It gives the finished fabric remarkable visual depth without becoming busy.

Although the yarn feels slightly dry in your hands—which I believe comes from the generous linen content—the silk completely changes the overall impression. It adds a smooth, almost velvety richness that balances the structure beautifully. There is also a very delicate natural halo visible on the strand, most likely created by the linen fibers, giving the yarn even more character.

I knitted my swatch on 4 US Size needles in a single strand, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with. The stitches formed easily, the yarn glided well on the needles, and I found myself simply enjoying the knitting process.

One thing I particularly appreciated is how forgiving this yarn is. Because of its textured construction, it naturally disguises uneven tension, minor rowing differences, and other small imperfections that would normally be obvious in smooth cotton yarns. It allows the knitter to relax and simply enjoy the project.

After washing, the yarn remained very stable. It relaxed slightly but did not bloom dramatically or change its overall appearance. The texture stayed beautifully defined, preserving exactly the character that makes this yarn so special.

If I were choosing a stitch pattern, I would especially recommend elongated stitches, slipped stitches, and textured fabrics. The subtle flame structure and mouliné twist become incredibly beautiful when allowed to stretch and reveal their natural movement. Even simple stockinette looks rich and interesting because the yarn itself creates so much visual depth.

To me, this is an exceptional summer yarn, but I also see enormous potential as a companion yarn. Combined with warmer fibers such as merino, cashmere, alpaca, or mohair, it would add beautiful structure and stability while maintaining excellent stitch definition. Thanks to its firm construction, I also expect garments made from this yarn to hold their shape remarkably well over time.

This is one of those yarns that doesn't scream for attention—it quietly rewards you every row. I truly enjoyed working with it, and I would absolutely recommend giving it a try.

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
