➤ My First Impressions
I knitted my swatch using four strands on US 4 (3.5 mm) needles, and I absolutely loved working with this yarn. It feels slightly crisp yet beautifully silky, creating a fabric with remarkable depth and character from the very first rows.

The pronounced tweed effect is what immediately caught my attention. The beautiful irregularities, subtle color variation, and natural slub texture give the fabric a sophisticated designer appearance while keeping the knitting interesting and enjoyable.

After washing, the fabric transforms beautifully. The silk relaxes, develops a delicate halo, and the textured tweed effect becomes even richer, creating a fabric that looks remarkably similar to luxury designer textiles.

What I love most is the combination of the refined silkiness and the expressive Shantung Jaspé construction. Together with the exceptional quality associated with Loro Piana and the rarity of Wild Tussah Silk, this creates a truly extraordinary yarn that simply makes you want to keep knitting.

✦ Texture & Feel:
Beautifully textured with natural irregular slubs, a pronounced tweed effect, elegant marl coloration, and the refined character of Wild Tussah Silk. The yarn feels slightly crisp while knitting but softens beautifully after washing, developing a delicate halo while maintaining its distinctive textured appearance.

If you love understated luxury rather than obvious shine, this yarn is unforgettable. It produces garments with depth, movement, and texture that simply cannot be achieved with ordinary smooth silk yarns.

➤ Recommended Uses:
Ideal for lightweight sweaters, elegant summer tops, cardigans, shells, lightweight jackets, scarves, shawls, wraps, designer accessories, luxury woven fabrics, and sophisticated summer knitwear where texture becomes part of the design.

✧ Tips & Recommendations:
Because of its beautiful natural texture, this yarn looks best in simple stitch patterns that allow the Shantung Jaspé construction to become the focal point. Stockinette, garter stitch, simple ribs, and understated lace all showcase the luxurious tweed effect exceptionally well.

For hand knitting, I recommend starting with four strands and adjusting the number of strands according to the fabric you would like to achieve. Always wash and dry your swatch before making final gauge decisions.

➤ Recommended Needles/Hooks:
• My swatch: Four strands on US 4 (3.5 mm) needles
• Adjust needle size according to the number of strands and desired fabric
• Crochet: Select hook size according to strand count and preferred gauge

➤ Weaving Suitability:
Excellent for weaving. The natural strength of Wild Tussah Silk, combined with the distinctive Shantung Jaspé texture, creates woven fabrics with exceptional depth, movement, and sophisticated rustic elegance. Suitable for both warp and weft when appropriate sett and structure are used.

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage:
Approximate requirements when knitted with four strands:
• Summer Top: 250–350g
• Sweater (M): 350–500g
• Lightweight Cardigan: 400–550g
• Lightweight Jacket: 450–650g
• Shawl or Wrap: 200–300g
• Scarf: 150–250g

Actual yarn requirements will vary depending on garment size, gauge, stitch pattern, strand count, and desired fabric density.

⟳ Care Instructions:
• Hand wash gently in cool water with a delicate silk-safe detergent
• Do not wring or twist
• Gently press excess water out with a towel
• Lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight
• Reshape while damp
• After washing, the yarn relaxes beautifully, develops a delicate halo, and retains its distinctive Shantung Jaspé texture and elegant tweed effect.

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
