Discover the sophisticated character of SUDOKU by MILLEFILI SPA, Italy, an exceptional Italian fashion yarn combining 60% Merino Wool, 20% Viscose, and 20% Polyamide. This beautifully balanced blend offers the warmth and elasticity of Merino Wool, the elegant drape and softness of viscose, and the durability of polyamide, creating fabrics that are lightweight, resilient, and full of character.

What makes SUDOKU truly unique is its naturally textured appearance. Delicate dark tweed-like flecks scattered throughout the strand create depth and movement, giving even the simplest knitting patterns a refined designer look. Originally developed for luxury fashion knitwear, this yarn perfectly reflects Millefili's reputation for creating innovative and distinctive Italian yarns.

➤ My First Impressions
At first glance, SUDOKU doesn't immediately feel extremely soft on the cone. It has a slightly dry touch, and you can definitely recognize the presence of viscose in the blend. However, don't let that first impression fool you.

I knitted my sample using four strands on US 4 (3.5 mm) knitting needles, and after washing the yarn completely transformed. The slight dryness disappeared, the fabric relaxed beautifully, and the finished sample became surprisingly soft for a yarn containing 60% Merino Wool. The stitches opened nicely, the fabric developed a gentle halo, and the tweed effect became even more attractive.

One of the details I love most is the subtle dark brown tweed flecks running throughout the yarn. They give every color more depth and create a sophisticated, natural appearance that looks far more interesting than a flat solid color. Even neutral shades become rich and elegant.

Millefili has always impressed me with its creative fiber combinations, and SUDOKU is another excellent example. Whenever I see the Millefili name, I expect something a little different, something thoughtfully engineered, and this yarn absolutely delivers.

Although SUDOKU is soft enough to knit beautiful garments on its own—even baby garments in my opinion—I also see enormous potential as a companion yarn. Its balanced composition makes it an outstanding foundation that pairs beautifully with many luxury fibers while adding stability, softness, and subtle visual texture.

✦ Texture & Feel:
Soft, airy, and naturally textured with elegant tweed-like flecks throughout the strand. Merino provides warmth and elasticity, viscose contributes graceful drape and softness, while polyamide improves durability and helps finished garments maintain their shape.

After washing, the yarn opens beautifully, develops a delicate halo, and becomes noticeably softer while maintaining crisp stitch definition.

➤ Recommended Uses:
Perfect for lightweight sweaters, cardigans, baby garments, shawls, scarves, wraps, everyday knitwear, luxury accessories, weaving, crochet, and sophisticated layering pieces.

✧ Tips & Recommendations:
Although the yarn may feel slightly dry on the cone, don't judge it before washing. The finished fabric becomes noticeably softer and fuller after its first wash, exactly as expected from a premium fashion yarn. Millefili also recommends finishing the knitted fabric with a gentle wash to develop a softer, loftier hand while maintaining elasticity.

I recommend starting with approximately four strands for hand knitting and adjusting according to your preferred fabric.

Always knit and wash a swatch before beginning your project.

➤ Recommended Needles/Hooks:
• My sample: Four strands on US 4 (3.5 mm) knitting needles
• Adjust needle size according to your preferred fabric
• Crochet: Select hook size according to strand count
• Excellent for machine knitting and weaving
• Always make a washed swatch before beginning your project.

➤ Weaving Suitability:
Excellent for weaving. The Merino, viscose, and polyamide blend creates woven fabrics with beautiful softness, elegant drape, and subtle visual texture. Ideal for scarves, wraps, apparel fabrics, and lightweight home textiles.

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage:
Approximate requirements when knitted with approximately four strands:

• Sweater (M): 300–450g
• Cardigan: 350–500g
• Shawl or Wrap: 180–300g
• Scarf: 120–220g
• Baby Sweater: 100–150g
• Baby Blanket: 250–350g

Actual yarn requirements will vary depending on garment size, gauge, stitch pattern, strand count, and desired fabric density.

➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT:
SUDOKU makes an outstanding companion yarn thanks to its balanced composition and subtle tweed texture.

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
