GRAFFITO by Mister Joe, Italy is a distinctive Italian yarn created from 71% Cotton and 29% Viscose. With approximately 160 meters / 175 yards per 100 g, this is a richly textured yarn that creates a bold, airy, and highly visual fabric. Rather than behaving like a regular round cotton yarn, GRAFFITO produces a more ribbon-like, structured effect in the knitted fabric, with visible openness, dimensional texture, and a refined contrast between matte softness and subtle shine.

This yarn is especially appealing for makers who want the fabric itself to make the statement. The cotton gives body, breathability, and everyday wearability, while the viscose adds light reflection and a more polished finish. The result is a yarn that feels modern, graphic, and elegant — perfect for simple silhouettes, clean stitch patterns, and projects where texture matters more than complication.

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special
GRAFFITO stands out because the finished fabric looks far more interesting than ordinary cotton blends. Even in simple knitting, the yarn creates an open, dimensional surface with strong visual texture and a very modern character. It feels bold and structured, yet still breathable and wearable.

The cotton gives the yarn body and natural softness, while the viscose adds elegance, movement, and light reflection. This balance makes GRAFFITO especially beautiful for garments and accessories where shape, texture, and fabric character should remain the focus.

⋔ Swatch Observations
In the swatch, GRAFFITO creates a beautifully open and breathable fabric with strong stitch definition and visible texture. The fabric looks structured without feeling heavy, and the yarn shows a clear contrast between matte softness and a slightly shinier accent. The overall look is modern, sculptural, and highly textural.

This swatch also shows that GRAFFITO works especially well in simple stitches, where the yarn itself can stay the focus. It creates a clean, graphic, almost architectural effect that is ideal for contemporary garments, statement accessories, and refined home décor projects.

➤ IMPORTANT — Yarn Usage
• Best for projects where texture and structure matter
• Especially beautiful in simple stitches
• Creates a breathable, open fabric with visible character
• Excellent for stylish garments, bags, and home accents
• Suitable for both knitting and crochet
• A strong choice for makers who want a modern, textural fabric rather than a plain smooth finish

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage
• Hat or beanie: approx. 100 g
• Scarf or cowl: approx. 150 g
• Shawl or wrap: approx. 200 g
• Sweater or top (S–M): approx. 400 g
• Sweater (L–XL): approx. 500–600 g
• Long cardigan or coat: approx. 700–800 g

➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT
GRAFFITO is strong enough to stand beautifully on its own, but it can also be paired with other yarns when a softer or more layered effect is desired.

Fine Cotton
Adds softness and keeps the fabric breathable while preserving the natural look.

Smooth Viscose or Silk Blends
Enhance drape and sheen for more fluid garments.

Soft Merino
Adds warmth and elasticity for transitional-season fabrics.

These pairings make GRAFFITO especially interesting for makers who like combining structure with softness and texture with refinement.

✦ Recommended Needles / Hooks
• Knitting needles: start around 4.5–6.0 mm
• Crochet hooks: start around 5.0–5.5 mm
• Use smaller sizes for more structure
• Use larger sizes for a more relaxed fabric

⫯ Weaving Suitability
• Better suited to knitting and crochet than to fine weaving
• Can be used for textural woven accents or experimental textile work
• Best where surface character and structure are the main focus

⟳ Care Instructions
• Hand wash or machine wash cold on delicate
• Use mild detergent
• Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight
• Wash swatch before final sizing calculations

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
