Tussah silk is known for its exceptional strength, breathability, and lightweight feel, making it an excellent choice for delicate yet durable handmade pieces. This Italian 100% Seta Tussah Silk has a more natural, raw beauty than smoother glossy silks, with visible fiber character, a dry matte finish, and a distinctly rustic yet refined look.

Unlike polished filament silk, this yarn has a more textured, organic presence. It feels stronger, drier, and more structured, which makes it especially appealing for projects where you want silk with character, durability, and a more artisanal finish. Its undyed natural ivory beige tone adds to that timeless, understated elegance.

➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT
This Tussah silk is beautiful on its own, but it also pairs very well with other fine yarns to create different textures and moods.

Mohair on Silk
Adds airy halo and softness for a more ethereal, romantic finish.

Fine Cashmere
Creates a softer and warmer luxury fabric while preserving elegance.

Fine Merino
Adds elasticity and body, making the final fabric more practical for everyday wear.

Enhances the natural texture and creates a fresh, breathable fabric with beautiful character.

These combinations make Tussah silk especially attractive for makers who enjoy building custom fabrics with texture, drape, and depth.

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
