STORAI LINEN is a classic Italian linen yarn with that true heritage-fiber personality: crisp, breathable, strong, and beautifully refined in finished fabric. Linen is made from flax — a plant fiber known for staying cool against the skin, holding its shape, and creating stitches with clean definition and elegant texture.
One important thing (and it’s completely normal): linen is not the easiest yarn to knit or crochet at the beginning. It has very little elasticity, it can feel firm and “dry” in the hands, and your stitches may look slightly uneven while you work. Linen’s magic is what happens next: after the first wash the fabric relaxes and becomes noticeably softer, and with wear and repeated washing it gets softer and softer over time, while staying durable, breathable, and structured.

⌁ Texture & Feel
Crisp, dry-to-the-touch linen with subtle sheen and excellent stitch definition. Minimal stretch (a linen trait), so it creates clean lines and holds shape beautifully. After washing, the fabric relaxes and becomes softer; with time, it breaks in further and feels smoother, more fluid, and more comfortable on the skin.
➤ Linen Notes (Knitting & Crochet Reality)
Linen has low elasticity, so steady tension matters more than usual. It can feel firm while working, especially in crochet, and that’s expected. If stitches look a bit uneven on the needles/hook, don’t worry — linen evens out dramatically after washing and blocking. Swatching (and washing your swatch) is strongly recommended for garments.
➤ Ways to Knit / Crochet
Held single — airy summer fabric, lace textures, breathable tops and layers
Held double — more coverage and drape while staying cool and structured
With a companion yarn — add a fine silk/cotton/merino strand for extra softness while keeping linen’s definition
➤ Suggested Needle / Hook Range
Held single: approx. 2.5–3.5 mm (US 1.5–4)
Held double: approx. 3.5–4.5 mm (US 4–7)
Crochet: choose a hook that creates a flexible fabric (avoid forcing an overly tight gauge)
With a companion yarn: follow the size that matches your intended fabric density

Scarf: ~150–250 g (≈ 675–1225 m / 740–1340 yd)
➤ Weaving Suitability
Excellent for weaving due to linen’s natural strength and stability. Produces breathable cloth with a clean finish, long wear, and a refined texture that improves over time.
⋔ Care Instructions
Hand wash in cool to lukewarm water using gentle detergent. Soak briefly without agitation, rinse in the same temperature water, do not wring. Roll in a towel to remove excess water and dry flat. Linen softens after the first wash and continues to become smoother and softer with wear. A gentle shape/block (and optional light steam hovering) helps the fabric settle into its final drape.

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)
⚑ FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.
⚑ FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.
PLEACE BUY CONES HERE
Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.
Please Note
Please Note
- Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
- Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
- FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
- Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
