➤ My First Impressions
Although I haven't knitted a swatch from this particular yarn yet, I was impressed the moment I picked up the cone. Even before knitting, the yarn feels incredibly soft, smooth, and luxurious in the hands. The combination of high-quality Extrafine Merino and Silk immediately gives the impression of a premium yarn designed for exceptional knitwear.

The first thing that caught my attention was the perfect balance between softness and elegance. The generous silk content gives the yarn a refined silky touch and beautiful natural luster, while the high percentage of Extrafine Merino keeps it wonderfully soft, elastic, and comfortable.

Because this is an exceptionally fine yarn, I would personally recommend beginning with approximately six strands for hand knitting and adjusting the number of strands according to the fabric you would like to achieve. This gives you complete control over the thickness of your project while preserving the beautiful qualities of this luxurious blend.

One of the greatest advantages of KATHERINE is its versatility. It is beautiful enough to knit entirely on its own, but it also makes an outstanding companion yarn that enhances almost any other fiber by adding softness, elasticity, and an elegant silky touch.

Based on the premium fiber composition, I would expect this yarn to produce the beautiful drape, refined stitch definition, and luxurious hand associated with high-quality Extrafine Merino blended with Silk.

✦ Texture & Feel:
Exceptionally soft and smooth with the luxurious hand of Extrafine Merino enhanced by the refined elegance of Silk. The yarn has a subtle natural luster without excessive shine, creating fabrics that feel sophisticated, comfortable, and timeless.

The high percentage of Merino provides elasticity, resilience, and softness, while the Silk contributes graceful drape, elegant stitch definition, and a luxurious finish that elevates every project.

If you appreciate understated luxury rather than novelty textures, KATHERINE is unforgettable. It produces elegant fabrics that are lightweight, refined, breathable, and exceptionally comfortable to wear.

➤ Recommended Uses:
Perfect for elegant sweaters, lightweight cardigans, luxurious shawls, scarves, wraps, sophisticated lace garments, baby garments, heirloom knitting, premium weaving, contemporary knitwear, and luxury companion-yarn projects.

✧ Tips & Recommendations:
One of the greatest advantages of KATHERINE is its incredible versatility. Because of its exceptionally fine meterage, you can completely customize your fabric simply by adjusting the number of strands.

For hand knitting, I recommend beginning with approximately six strands and adjusting the strand count according to the desired thickness, drape, and fabric density.

Simple stitch patterns beautifully showcase the yarn's natural softness, refined luster, and elegant stitch definition. It also pairs exceptionally well with many other luxury fibers, allowing you to create completely unique designer fabrics.

Always knit and wash a swatch before beginning your project to determine the ideal strand count, gauge, and finished fabric.

➤ Recommended Needles/Hooks:
• Hand knitting: Start with approximately six strands
• Adjust the number of strands according to your desired fabric
• Crochet: Adjust strand count and hook size according to your project
• Outstanding companion yarn for blending with other luxury fibers
• Excellent for weaving
• Always make a washed swatch before beginning your project.

➤ Weaving Suitability:
Excellent for weaving. The combination of Extrafine Merino and Silk creates woven fabrics with remarkable softness, graceful drape, refined luster, and outstanding comfort. It is an exceptional choice for luxury scarves, shawls, lightweight garments, and elegant woven textiles where softness and fluid movement are desired.

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage:
Approximate requirements when knitted with approximately six strands:
• Sleeveless Top: 180–250g
• Short-Sleeve Top: 220–300g
• Sweater (M): 300–450g
• Lightweight Cardigan: 350–500g
• Shawl or Wrap: 120–200g
• Scarf: 80–150g

Actual yarn requirements will vary depending on garment size, stitch pattern, gauge, number of strands, and desired fabric density.

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

We ship worldwide with tracking provided. As customs policies and tariffs can change frequently, any duties, taxes, or import fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.

This yarn is an absolute delight to work with! The texture is so soft and pleasant to touch that I find myself not wanting to finish my project just to keep working with it. The light sheen from the silk gives it a subtle, luxurious glow, adding an elegant touch to whatever you’re making. The beautiful beige sand color is a perfect natural shade. For my current project I use it in 8 ply on 3 mm needles.
