Legendary CASH 30 BABA/X by Zegna Baruffa is an exceptionally refined Italian luxury yarn created from 70% Merino Wool and 30% Cashmere. In this very fine Nm 1/15000 construction, it offers the softness, elasticity, and everyday practicality of merino together with the elegant warmth and elevated hand of cashmere. The result is a versatile extra-fine yarn that feels light, soft, and luxurious while still being more stable and wearable than pure cashmere alone.

Because this yarn is an ultra-fine 1/15000 base, it is not the kind of yarn most hand knitters would usually use in one strand for practical garments. It performs much better in multiple strands, on a knitting machine, or held together with other luxury yarns. This makes it especially attractive for makers who want to build their own fabric through strand count, blending, or pairing, while keeping the softness and quiet elegance of merino-cashmere.

⚑ Why This Yarn Is Special
CASH 30 BABA/X offers a beautiful balance between softness and practicality. The merino gives the yarn elasticity, resilience, and a more wearable everyday character, while the cashmere adds a softer hand, elegant warmth, and a more luxurious finish. In such a fine construction, the yarn becomes especially versatile for makers who enjoy controlling the final fabric rather than being limited by a fixed thickness.

Used in multiple strands, this yarn can create refined sweaters, cardigans, shawls, scarves, hats, and elegant layering pieces. It is also an excellent companion yarn for blending with silk, mohair, alpaca, or other fine bases when a softer, warmer, or more dimensional fabric is desired.

⌁ Texture & Feel
• Soft, refined, and elegant
• Lighter and more elastic than pure cashmere
• Smoother and more practical than many ultra-soft luxury bases
• Gentle bloom after washing
• Airy, lightweight, and quietly luxurious
• Comfortable next to the skin when used appropriately

✧ Luxury Fiber Profile — Merino & Cashmere
This yarn combines two of the most loved fibers in fine knitwear.

Merino adds:
• Softness and comfort
• Elasticity and resilience
• Breathability
• Better everyday wearability

Cashmere adds:
• Extra softness
• Gentle warmth
• A more luxurious hand feel
• Elegant lightness

Together, they create a yarn that feels refined, soft, practical, and highly versatile.

➤ IMPORTANT — Yarn Usage
• Single-strand hand knitting: generally too fine for comfortable standalone hand knitting
• Best for hand knitting in 2, 3, or more strands depending on the desired fabric
• Excellent for machine knitting in finer gauges
• Beautiful held together with silk, mohair, alpaca, or other luxury companions
• Suitable for crochet, weaving, and refined textile development

⋔ Recommended Yarn Usage

• Shawl or wrap: approx. 100–250 g
• Scarf or cowl: approx. 100–200 g

Always knit and wash a swatch before starting the final project.

➤ Recommended Pairings From iDOKNiT
CASH 30 BABA/X is beautiful as a multi-strand merino-cashmere yarn on its own, but it also pairs wonderfully with other luxury fibers to create more distinctive fabrics.

Silk
Adds drape, elegance, and a smoother, more refined finish.

Mohair on Silk
Adds halo, softness, and airy volume for sweaters, shawls, and layering pieces.

Soft Alpaca or Suri
Adds warmth, softness, and a more cocooning fabric with gentle bloom.

Fine Merino
Adds body and stability while preserving softness and comfort.

These pairings make CASH 30 BABA/X especially appealing to makers who enjoy building custom fabrics with softness, warmth, elasticity, and refined texture.

Formats: Balls (BY DEFAULT) or Cones (PLEASE PURCHASE)

FOR FULL-CONE SALES, THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE CONE. Yarn will remain on its original cone.

FOR YARN THAT IS NOT SOLD AS A FULL CONE BUT IN VARIOUS WOUND WEIGHTS, ALL YARN WILL BE WOUND INTO BALLS BY DEFAULT. CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE YARN PRICE. However, we can wind it onto cones upon request. Cones may be purchased separately if you prefer continuous yardage for machine knitting or multi-strand projects. One color is typically wound per cone to maintain consistency.

PLEASE BUY CONES HERE

Unlike other shops where cone costs are often built into the yarn price—regardless of the format—our pricing is transparent. You pay only for the yarn itself. If you’d like your order wound on a cone, it can be purchased separately. This small additional charge also helps cover packaging differences and the actual cost of the cone. No hidden fees, no inflated markups—just honest, straightforward pricing.

Please Note

  • Please keep in mind: cone yarns, especially those made with extra fine merino or cashmere, may include a protective coating used for industrial knitting. A few gentle washes will allow the yarn to bloom, soften, and reveal its natural texture.
  • Colors are photographed in natural light but may appear slightly different depending on your screen.
  • FOR YARN THAT IS CUSTOM-WOUND, ±1–2g variation per 100g may occur due to winding.
  • Each ball/cone is wound with care and packed securely to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.

Shipping & Order Processing

Orders are prepared in the order received and typically ship within 3–5 business days. Custom requests such as cone winding may require additional time. Multiple orders placed before shipment may be combined. Shipping refunds are not issued for combined orders.

We ship worldwide with tracking provided. As customs policies and tariffs can change frequently, any duties, taxes, or import fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not collected by us at the time of purchase but are typically paid to your local postal service or customs office upon the arrival of your package.
